Plan, Protect and Proceed

Our granddaughter, Elizabeth, is 10 years old.  Since she was a baby, my wife, Renee, told herself and Elizabeth that when Elizabeth was 10 Grandma Renee would take her to Paris.  Begrudgingly, I was allowed to tag along and the three of us went to Paris for a week in March, 2013.  We tried our best to see Paris through the eyes of a 10-year-old.  We think we succeeded. Redefine IRE

For most people the word IRE means ‘anger.’  For others IRE stands for INTERNATIONAL RECYCLING EXPO.  For many in the month of March, with St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner clearly IRE stands for ‘Ireland.’

I have created another definition for IRE:  an acronym which stands for Involve, Resolve, Evolve.

Based upon the experience I have gained during my years of practice, and the turmoil I have witnessed in clients’ lives, I have expanded my law practice to cover new businesses, existing businesses and businesses in transition in a brand new way. Read more

Groundhog Day

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow on February 2, 2013.

No more excuses for doom and gloom.  Time to think about an early and great start for Spring.

This is tax time for most, giving stuff to Janet LaBerge, going to see a financial advisor and sitting down with me , Barry Gordon, or one of the other terrific attorneys at Gordon, Mond & Ott, P.C.

Why?  To look at all your corporate documents to see if they are in order, to form a corporation or LLC to protect your assets. Read more

Start 2013 Doing Things to Make Life Easier, More Satisfying

To start the year 2013 there are some things to do that will make life easier and more satisfying.  To start, begin with:

My Family, My Business and Me

A book about balance, happiness and saying what you mean.

Your whole life has involved listening to your parents, your boss, your employees and anyone else who comes into your life.  All those words get tossed around in your brain and you react.  Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, sometimes badly, and sometimes in ways that make you think and grow. If you are looking for a lawyer who will represent you and will work with you to focus on what is important, and one who does it zealously, then call me, Barry Gordon.

Here is my philosophy:

Tell the people who bring bad into your life that you have to separate from them as much as possible – or maybe even totally.  Turn your focus to people whom you care for, and who care for you. Read more

My wife, Renee, and I just returned from Safari in Tanzania.  I have wanted to go on safari for years, and before I was too old or feeble to enjoy it and remember where I had gone.  The oldest folks there were in their 80s so I guess I did not have to worry, but I did.  It was amazing.

I am not sure if you worry, or have to worry; and even if a safari is not on the top of your list of things to get done, retirement and estate planning should be. Read more

Moving Forward from Labor Day

Fall is in the air.  The goal is to be ready, ready for back to school and whatever else fall brings.  Prepare for what the election brings whether your candidate wins or not.  Each of us will have to depend more on ourselves and our support systems.  What government brings will be dessert because there will be no main course coming from the government.  Some days we will have to go without dessert.

If you had not noticed the Government cannot get out of its own way.  Look at the Republicans who put up a brain-dead candidate from Missouri (my opinion). Read more
